Hello, I am Frieda
I work as a project manager. I am a parent and an expatriate based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t in the original plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The opening months were overwhelming — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily chores felt tougher than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, doubt, and hands-on learning were part of it. Yet, over time routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.
Why I Built Horizon Leaf Forge
Most online resources were either high-level corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site covers:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site is not:
- Not a resource from a tourism authority
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands goes on, and the learning continues. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Frieda
